Performance
we can go somewhere and make fire
A sound performance by Anna Lerchbaumer and Martina Moro
No light from a candle, no warmth from a fire. Even when we’re cooking, it’s enough simply to turn a switch. The crackle, flicker, hissing and cracking of fire, once familiar noises, today sound like distant memories. In this performance we want to go in search of fire – or of the place where it used to burn. We take a look at the modern world where fire has been tamed through electricity long since. The performance is an artistic ping-pong between the two artists, an interplay of acoustic and visual impressions evoking the flickering light of flames. In the process, fire is examined not just as a physical phenomenon but also as a mythical and cultural symbol – an artistic self-experiment with mythological fuel, so to speak.
